The only thing that matters

Three, two, one…shoot!
It’s the starting pistol…

Well, not really, it’s the alarm clock.

This is a different kind of a race
It’s the race against time…
It’s that time of the day where,
in a matter of seconds, everything changes.
And nothing is same as before.
Nursing gown into a pinstripe shirt
Soft cuddles into impersonal handshakes
A mother into a badass employee, well, at least on the good days…

Not an easy transition for sure.

Brushing aside emotions, ignoring fears…
I plod on, hoping it’s the right way

Sometimes validation comes in the form of slobbbery kisses.
I feel stronger and braver.
Sometimes criticism comes in the form of angry cries.
I pretend to be stronger and braver.

Whatever the performance review, it’s the only kind of feedback that really matters.

I shall do better tomorrow. I shall be stronger and braver tomorrow.
